Carlit Summit Success

For those of you interested to see the route we took up please follow the garmin link below:
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/395631550

This morning we rose bright and early before the sun was even fully up to begin making our way towards the Carlit Massif just across the border in France.

After a coffee in Mont Louis we were heading towards the trail head, energized and ready to go.

As you can see if you look in the garmin, the climb in approximately 15Km round trip, the approach to the summit a very slight ascent, with a very steep 1-2km to finish up towards the summit ridge.

It was super pleasant weather, calm winds, which only began to grow as we grew nearer to the ridge.  Around the same time the trail changed into a bit more of a steep rock scramble.  (Pictured below)

We approached the summit as the winds began to pick up but had incredible views all around.  We enjoyed an apple and the view before making our way back down towards the big lake which is pictured below.

As we headed down the wind pick up (as predicted) but once we were off the more jagged rocks we were able to scramble down quite quickly.

More photos to come...sadly, my summit photo won't upload onto my computer out of the email!

On to Adventure 11...the Bagan Temple Marathon in Myanmar. (Burma)  We have been told phone access will be impossible if not quite limited.  If you're interested to follow us we will be running on Saturday morning of next weekend.  I am running under my name (Colleen Abuhaidar) and I believe I am race number 1.  If the race tracker up is up and running I hope you should be able to see how I've done.  (Or at least see within a few days that I've finished.)

After the race we're heading to the Mergui Islands to enjoy a few days of diving, so our first connection to the digital world might not be until our arrival in Bangkok the 9th/10th of November.

Thank you for following!
